Zone 1 — Withered Bamboo Grove (枯れ竹林)

Withered Bamboo Grove (枯れ竹林) is zone 1 of Yomi no Sho, designed for characters between level 1 and level 5.

A grove of dead bamboo stalks rattling in a wind that doesn’t blow. The first combat zone — gentle, forgiving, and where every new player cuts their teeth. The Bamboo Watchman paces the entrance, warning wanderers of what lies ahead.

Recommended: levels 1–5. You can travel here as soon as you reach level 1, but the boss of stage 10 will be challenging until you’re closer to level 5. Pushing into this zone below level 1 is possible but not recommended — the enemies’ base stats assume level-1 gear.

Two enemy archetypes spawn in this zone. Each fight picks one at random. Both archetypes use the same stage scaling and boss rules (see Bestiary for details).

Every 10th stage is a boss fight. The boss is the same archetype as the rest of the zone, but with significantly inflated stats:

ModifierEffect
HP, ATK, DEF×3 (vs. base)
SPD×1.2 (vs. base)
Crit×1.5 (vs. base)
XP reward×5
Gold reward×5
Name suffix”— Warlord” (English) / “・名将” (Japanese)

At stage 10, enemies are also scaled by the stage multiplier of 1.72×. So a stage-10 boss’s actual stats are roughly:

BossBase HPStage 10 HP (with boss mod)Base ATKStage 10 ATK (with boss mod)
Kodama — Warlord60~3108~41
Bakemono — Warlord80~41310~52

Every combat victory has a 20% chance to roll an item drop. The dropped item is rolled from the game’s full item pool, but only items with minZone <= current zone are eligible. See Drop Rates for the full rarity weights.

In zone 1, the eligible items are those with minZone <= 1. This includes:

  • All common items (minZone 1–1)

See the Items Index for the full list of items that can drop here.

This is the tutorial zone. Any class at level 1+ can clear it. Use it to learn the combat system, earn your first gold, and unlock your level-5 skill. Don’t idle here past level 5 — the XP and gold rewards don’t scale.
