Zones Overview

Yomi no Sho has nine zones: one safe hub (Yomi Town) and eight combat zones, numbered 1 through 8. Each combat zone has a level range, two enemy archetypes, and a boss at stage 10. This page is a quick-reference map of all nine zones; click through to each zone’s page for full details.

The intended progression is linear: zone 1 → zone 2 → zone 3 → … → zone 8. Each zone’s level range overlaps slightly with the next, so you can transition smoothly. The overlaps are:

  • Zone 1 (1–5) → Zone 2 (4–10): overlap at levels 4–5
  • Zone 2 (4–10) → Zone 3 (8–16): overlap at levels 8–10
  • Zone 3 (8–16) → Zone 4 (14–22): overlap at levels 14–16
  • Zone 4 (14–22) → Zone 5 (20–30): overlap at levels 20–22
  • Zone 5 (20–30) → Zone 6 (28–40): overlap at levels 28–30
  • Zone 6 (28–40) → Zone 7 (38–50): overlap at levels 38–40
  • Zone 7 (38–50) → Zone 8 (48–99): overlap at levels 48–50

These overlaps give you flexibility — you can leave a zone early if you’re feeling confident, or stay late if you want to grind more before moving on. The recommended approach is to push into the next zone as soon as you can clear its stage 10 boss reliably.

Zones appear on your map as ?? tiles until discovered. Discovery happens when you either:

  • Reach the level range. Once your level is at or above the zone’s minimum level, the zone is discovered.
  • Progress the quest chain. Some quests explicitly discover zones (e.g. “Into the Ashen Wastes” discovers zone 5).

You can travel to any discovered zone at any time, regardless of your current level. The game will warn you if you’re below the recommended level, but it won’t stop you.

Each combat zone is divided into 10 stages. Stage 1 is the easiest, stage 10 is the boss. The stage scaling is:

  • Each stage increases enemy HP, ATK, DEF, and SPD by 8% (multiplicative).
  • Stage 10 enemies have stats roughly 1 + 9 × 0.08 = 1.72× the base.
  • Every 10th stage is a boss — see Bestiary for the boss modifier table.
  • There is also a ±10% random variance on every stat, rolled per-fight.

When you clear stage 10 of a zone, you advance to stage 1 of the next zone. If you haven’t unlocked the next zone (e.g. you’re below its level range), you stay on stage 10 of the current zone indefinitely, fighting the boss on loop. This is a viable farming strategy — see Idle Loop for details.
