Shrine Maiden (巫女)

The Shrine Maiden (巫女) is the healer of Yomi Town. She tends the town’s small shrine, smells of cedar and sage, and restores your HP and MP for gold. She’s the primary healing service in the game — the only other healer is the Flame Priest in zone 7, who charges the same rates.

  • Heals HP at 2 gold per HP restored.
  • Heals MP at 5 gold per MP restored.
  • Does not sell items. For items, see the Kitsune Merchant.
  • Does not offer quests. For quests, see the Ronin Ghost.

The cost to fully heal depends on your max HP/MP and how much you’re missing. Some examples:

CharacterMax HPMax MPMissing HPMissing MPCost (HP only)Cost (MP only)Cost (both)
Level 1 Samurai120305015100g75g175g
Level 10 Onmyoji18015110080200g400g600g
Level 30 Sohei798151400100800g500g1300g
Level 50 Shinobi634231300150600g750g1350g

The cost scales steeply with level. By level 30+, a single full heal can cost more than 1000 gold. This is why self-healing skills (Meditation for everyone, Sutra Chant and Vajra Smite for Sohei) are so valuable — they reduce your reliance on the Shrine Maiden.

“Welcome, weary one. The lanterns of Yomi Town have not yet gone out — sit, let me tend your wounds. Two gold for every wound closed, five for every spark of spirit restored.”

Options:

  • “Please heal me” → “Bow your head. The kami listen, even here in the dark. Your strength shall return.” (triggers heal service)
  • “Tell me of your faith” → “I serve the old gods — the ones who walked Yomi before the darkening. Izanami. Kagutsuchi. Even now, they listen, if you know how to ask.” → continues to faith.
  • “Maybe later” → “The shrine is always here. Do not let your wounds fester, traveler.” (ends conversation)

“The old gods are not gone. They are diminished, as all things in Yomi are diminished. But they listen. When you light a lantern, when you speak a name, when you remember — they listen.”

Options:

  • “I will remember” → “Then you have already done more than most. Go in peace, traveler.” (ends conversation)

Visit the Shrine Maiden:

  • After every zone push that left you wounded. Don’t push into a new zone at 30% HP — heal first.
  • Before logging off. Top up so your idle session starts at full HP.
  • Before a boss fight. Always approach a stage-10 boss at full HP and MP.
  • Before PvP. Always PvP at full HP.

Healing is one of the biggest gold sinks in the game. To minimise costs:

  • Invest in a self-heal skill. Meditation (10 MP, heals 30% max HP) is available to every class at level 5. It’s not great, but it’s free.
  • Play Sohei. The Sohei’s Vajra Smite heals 15% of max HP per cast, and Sutra Chant heals 25%. A Sohei can go entire zone pushes without visiting the Shrine Maiden.
  • Don’t overheal. If you’re at 80% HP, you don’t need a heal — push one more fight, then heal.
  • Don’t heal in zone 7. The Flame Priest charges the same rates. Save the gold by healing in town instead.
  • Flame Priest — the other healer, in zone 7.
  • Yomi Town — the zone she lives in.
  • Skills — self-heal skills reduce your reliance on her.
